Give God Your Best “You and your household shall eat it before the LORD your God year by year in the place which the LORD chooses. But if there is a defect in it, if it is lame or blind or has any serious defect, you shall not sacrifice it to the LORD your God.” Deuteronomy 15:20-21 This means you do not give God your cast offs. Think how many Christians give God their castoffs. It is lame, it is blind, it is deaf, but who cares. The priests in the New Testament were very smart. They said, “You know what? We are going to work with Rome. When our people come to the Temple to sacrifice their lamb, pigeon or turtle dove, we will check the animals and find a defect in them. Then we can sell them animals marked up 40%, so they can sacrifice to God.” They took advantage of the Law of God. What do people do today? They take advantage of the people. They rip off people. It is incredible. Companies have their products made oversees for less and then sell them to us at a huge mark up. It is incredible. It is a rip off. As Christians, do we rip people off or do we draw the lines in the sand? Do we make a stand for righteousness? If you make your riches in taking people’s money the wrong way, then how can God really bless you? It is just like giving God a defective animal. God does not accept defects. He wants perfection.
